Only the Imagination Can Unlock the Cages of Captivity explores the intersection, and interplay, between dreams and the realities of our existence. This new work will continue the artistic journey of Ortiz and Sanchez as they search for innovative ways to merge words and images in live performance. This work will be presented by LATEA Theater, NYC.

Unlocking the Cages of Captivity While Sitting on a Park Bench
Unlocking the Cages of Captivity While Sitting on a Park Bench is a durational performance, site-specific installation, created by performance artist George Emilio Sanchez and Patty Ortiz. The piece, produced by More Art Inc. explores the intersection and interplay between our dreams and the realities of our existence. This collaborative performance installation is intended as a companion work to Fred Wilson’s Mind Forged Manacles on public display in Columbus Park, located at Borough Hall, Brooklyn. Unlocking the Cages of Captivity While Sitting on a Park Bench will be performed in a 2-hour alternating sequence of live performance and projected images in acknowledgement of Indigenous Peoples Day.

In the Court of the Conqueror
In the Court of the Conqueror is the first collaboration between Patty Ortiz and George Emilio Sanchez. The work featured a Sanchez original text and performance with Ortiz's video projections. In the Court of the Conqueror weaves together Sanchez's story of his indigenous ancestry with the history of American sovereignty. The work is currently traveling throughout the US.
